A pitch deck says "83% of UAE shoppers buy on social media". It sounds impressive, and nobody in the room can say where the number came from.
That is the problem with many UAE digital marketing statistics online: they are repeated without sources, dates or context. This guide collects the numbers that can be traced to a named source, shows the date of each, and is honest about the figures we could not verify.
The UAE has about 11.5 million internet users (99% of the population), 13.7 million social media user identities and 24.9 million mobile connections, according to DataReportal's Digital 2027 report for October 2026. Google handles about 95% of searches and mobile devices about 68% of web traffic, per StatCounter. UAE digital ad spend is forecast at about US$2.64 billion in 2026.
Almost the whole population is online. DataReportal's Digital 2027 report for the UAE, published on 4 November 2026, gives these October 2026 figures:
Metric | Figure | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Population | 11.6 million | UN data |
Internet users | 11.5 million (99.0% penetration) | The publisher caps penetration at 99% |
Social media user identities | 13.7 million (117% of population) | May not represent unique people |
Cellular mobile connections | 24.9 million (215% of population) | People hold several connections |
Median mobile download speed | 675.51 Mbps | Ookla, to August 2026 |
Median fixed download speed | 382.40 Mbps | Ookla, to August 2026 |
Percentages above 100% are not errors. They appear because people hold several SIM cards and social accounts. The report itself warns that identities and connections are not the same as unique individuals.
What this means for you: you can assume your customers are online and on fast mobile networks, so slow pages and heavy images are your problem, not theirs.
TikTok reaches the most adults, and YouTube and LinkedIn are growing fastest. These are advertising reach figures from late 2026, taken from the same DataReportal report:
Platform | Ad reach | Share of population | Change over the year |
|---|---|---|---|
TikTok (adults 18+) | 13.7 million | 143.9% of adults | +9.1% |
10.2 million | 87.8% | +5.2% | |
YouTube | 9.91 million | 85.3% | +18.4% |
8.90 million | 76.6% | +10.6% | |
LinkedIn (members) | 12.0 million | 103.2% | +20.0% |
Snapchat | 5.09 million | 43.7% | -0.8% |
Read these carefully. Ad reach is not the same as monthly active users, and Meta itself says its estimated audience size is not a proxy for active users. LinkedIn counts registered members, not active ones. A TikTok figure above 100% of adults shows the numbers are platform estimates, not a census.
The right platform depends on your audience, not on the biggest number. Our comparison of the best social media platforms for Dubai businesses explains how to choose.
Google handles the large majority of UAE searches. StatCounter's UAE search engine market share data for October 2026 shows:
Search engine | Share |
|---|---|
95.42% | |
Bing | 2.71% |
Yandex | 1.33% |
Yahoo! | 0.24% |
DuckDuckGo | 0.17% |
These shares move a little each month, so treat them as a snapshot. They also measure search engines, not AI assistants, so they do not show how many people ask chatbots for answers.
If Google is where your customers look, your visibility there decides much of your growth. Our SEO services in Dubai focus on exactly that.
About two thirds of UAE web traffic comes from mobile devices. StatCounter's platform data for October 2026 reports:
This measures page views tracked by StatCounter, not people. Some sites, such as B2B services, may see more desktop traffic than the average. Check your own analytics before you decide how to design for each device.
You may see other sources claim that 70%, 79% or over 80% of UAE traffic is mobile. We found those figures without a named source, so we have not used them.
UAE digital ad spend is forecast to reach about US$2.64 billion in 2026. A February 2026 market-research release from Research and Markets, distributed by GlobeNewswire, reports:
Year | Digital ad spend | Basis |
|---|---|---|
2025 | US$2.29 billion | Baseline |
2026 | US$2.64 billion | Forecast, growth of 15.2% |
2029 | About US$4.30 billion | Forecast, 17.7% annual growth from 2026 |
These are forecasts from a research vendor, not audited spending, and the full breakdown by search, social and video sits in a paid report. Use them to show direction, not to plan a budget. If you are deciding what to spend on paid channels, our PPC services in Dubai can model it against your own targets.
We could not find a reliable, current, sourced number for the size of UAE e-commerce, so we are not printing one. The U.S. government's country guide on UAE e-commerce, last published in August 2025, relies mostly on 2020 figures, and several widely shared 2026 estimates have no named source.
That gap matters, because e-commerce numbers are among the most copied and least checked in the market. If you need a figure for a report, find the original source, check its date and its definition of e-commerce, and cite it by name.
For a view on where online selling is heading, our overview of UAE e-commerce trends covers the direction without relying on a single headline number.
Statistics help most when you use them for decisions, not decoration. A few rules:
For example, if you see that YouTube and LinkedIn audiences grew fastest, test a small campaign there before moving a large budget. A team that runs social media marketing in Dubai can help you test and measure it.

Pick one number that matters to your business, such as mobile share or platform reach, and ask what you would do differently because of it. That single decision is worth more than a page of statistics.
If you would like a plan built on your own data and your own market, our digital marketing company in Dubai can help you choose channels, set targets and measure results.
